I was so sick!

I’d like to give a quick thank you to everyone for their understanding, compassion, and patience when I got very suddenly ill on Friday, December 23rd (I had to be taken to the ER). Appointments had to be rescheduled for the entire day, one client had to be sent home without his cat even being seen, and everything was a bit of a scramble.
I was diagnosed with Vertigo (when dogs and cats get this we call it Vestibular Syndrome), a disturbance of the inner ear. It causes acute episodes of dizziness and nausea which tend to come and go rapidly (or come and stay like mine did). My treatment in the ER (IV fluids, plus injections for nausea and motion sickness) helped a little. The doctor put me on the same medication we use for our patients, Meclizine (a motion sickness pill). That, plus time, rest, and a bland diet. Lovely diagnosis to get on the day before Christmas Eve!
I did get slowly better, and my family pitched in and did most of the cooking for our Christmas dinner. By Monday December 26th I was mostly back to normal, although we took it easy over New Year’s weekend, too. I’m fine now.
Again, thanks to my staff (who jumped right in and coped when I had to leave to go to the ER). And thanks to my clients, who were helpful, caring, and cooperative when my status changed so quickly. I really appreciate having a family practice, and this is just one of the benefits!
