Donations?

This past Saturday, we had our Greenbriar Animal Hospital Christmas party at my house and it was fun. Madison, of course, had her Christmas bandanna on (she'll wear it until the New Year). She got petted and fussed over and held by everyone. We exchanged small, mostly homemade gifts and home-cooked food, and enjoyed the afternoon and a chance to chat.

We hope you have a happy holiday season this year, and a good 2012, too!

Not everyone is doing well in  Fairfax County; local dog and cat rescue leagues and shelters are struggling to keep their critters in good condition as budgets are strained by too few donations and too many animals being given up. Please do your best to help other, less fortunate cats and dogs! We are collecting donations for HART at our hospital - they will take anything pet related (including food, toys, collars, beds, crates, litter, and more). Thay have a "wish list" on their web site which is www.hart90.org.

Most pet-containing households have several items that could be donated - a collar that the cat did not like, an open bag of treats that the dog loved (but they were too rich for her), a food dish your pet no longer uses, toys that are not being played with, leashes in good condition, a bag of kitty litter, and lots more. If you don't have any pet items to donate, consider purchasing a small bag of clumping or plain clay litter for only a few dollars - this is an item that is inexpensive and always appreciated!

Drop off items for donation here at the hospital any time during our open hours. We will be collecting donations through January 2012. And please accept heartfelt thanks from Greenbriar Animal Hospital and from the cats and dogs that will benefit from your donations!
