The Big Wedding Day!

5/21/2011 – Today was the BIG DAY – Dr. Olson’s son Ben married Casey Board (now Casey Board Olson) at King of King’s Lutheran church in Fairfax, Virginia. Pastor Mike, a long-time friend of Ben’s, performed the ceremony and it was very personal, warm, and friendly. The day was perfectly beautiful, and so was the bride and the entire wedding!

True to form, Dr. Olson, her mom, and her daughter Rachel all cried a lot as the entire day was so incredibly touching. Especially when Pastor Mike thanked both sets of parents for their loving support and care over the years. And when Ben surprised Dr. O with a beloved Kenny Rogers song for their special dance together. And again when we discovered that (in lieu of wedding favors) Ben and Casey had given a donation to the American Diabetes Association and to Alzheimer’s research. And well, you get the idea - the tears just kept coming! And yet it was such a moving and special day. Shouldn’t there be tears as well as hugs, kisses, and laughter? We all thought so.

The only lousy thing about the whole thing was that I, Madison Olson, the Princess, had to stay home through the entire thing. I wasn’t even invited (well, neither were Ben and Casey’s huskies Apollo and Mohawk, or their cat Felix)! I did get a special wedding day bandanna that Martha, our groomer made just for me – don’t I look cute? I have not taken it off since the wedding.
